Ever
imagine that you could wirelessly receive scanned documents, digital
camera photos or send electronic files directly to a printer via Infrared?
Now you can with JetSend for Windows CE. Designed as a mobile users’
connection to Hewlett Packard’s proprietary communications protocol, the
application allows any Windows CE device to communicate with over 5
million other JetSend-enabled products reportedly already in the market.
For
example, users of the HP Capshare 920 (see "related articles"
below) or the HP C500 Digital Camera could send a document or photo to the
Windows CE device, where the user can view and annotate it using
highlighting or text. Once the user is satisfied with the document, it can
be sent via infrared to a laptop or printer, as an E-mail attachment
directly from the JetSend application, or copied off the device during
synchronization.
As
an added bonus, JetSend gives Windows CE users advanced Infrared
capabilities when talking to other Windows CE users. When your friends
install JetSend, you can exchange image files, E-mail, appointments, and
tasks – functionality that Windows CE doesn’t have built-in, but
should!
JetSend
for Windows CE requires 450kb of memory, and is available for the SH3/SH4,
MIPS, and StrongARM processors systems running CE v2.11. For a limited
time, HP has a free version of Jetsend for Windows CE available for
download at http://www.jetsend.hp.com/
