iGolf v1.0
The very first game to offer
online play and scoring, iGolf v1.0 is going on it's third year of Pocket PC splendor,
and still has no equal. iGolf is a sports simulation, focusing on the
mechanics of a good golf game; with club selection, ball spin and course
management being the key factors in a successful match. When you launch the
application, a player screen loads where you can choose one of four
characters based on their power, spin control and accuracy. Once you've set
up your player, you can hit the links.
The interface, while nothing
new, offers the same style of play and level of entertainment you'd expect
from a desktop golf game. A swing meter controls distance and accuracy, and
you can put extra backspin or roll into your shots with two taps on the
screen. Multiple angles help you to analyze your approach from many
different views and a built-in Landscape Mode allows you to play in
widescreen format.

iGolf includes all the features of a
desktop golf game, without the hard drive bloat |
iGolf includes an amazing
ten courses for play, free of charge. The registered version also includes
a desktop course manager application that facilitates downloading the
courses to your Pocket PC and managing memory on the device.
 |
|
The desktop iGolf Course Manager allows
you to manage the additional courses available for the Pocket PC
game, while keeping an eye the device memory. |
In addition to the ability
to download courses from the Internet, iGolf includes Internet scoring and
multiplayer capabilities. By setting up a free account with iGolf, you can
post your best scores to their Web site. When you upload them through the
desktop course manager, statistics on your play like driving distance
average, longest drive, and driving accuracy are posted on the site for
everyone to see.
And if that doesn't create
enough bragging rights, you can take on up to three other real players in a
network game. When you log in, you start in the lobby where you can chat,
join a game, create a new one or take part in a tournament. If you create a
game, you get to select the course and set the maximum numbers of players.
You can also set a password for the match, to limit access to your friends
and family. CE Craft even provides a PC-executable version for free for the
network play, in case your (or your competitor's) Pocket PC doesn't have
network capabilities.
